The role
As Senior Data Engineer you will play an essential role in growing ReMark’s business portfolio. You will support SCOR Velogica US modernization efforts by being the dedicated data expert and work to structure and organize data appropriately for analytics, R&D, business intelligence, and continuous product improvement.
Reporting to the Head of Product and Business Analytics you will be responsible for the following:
Key responsibilities
- Work with the application development team to install the data analytics infrastructure to support Velogica US, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines, to support the organization's data needs.
- Manage and use data tools and technologies (such as Databricks) to support the company's data strategy and objectives.
- Drive efforts to integrate data from various sources, including Velogica US and its supporting AI/ML models, to create a unified and holistic view of the Velogica US data assets.
- Support Velogica US modernization efforts by being the dedicated data expert and working to structure and organize data appropriately for analytics, R&D, business intelligence, and continuous product improvement.
- Query Velogica US data to answer ad-hoc questions about system and model performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Application Development, Business Intelligence, and Knowledge and Data (AI/ML model development) to promote data-driven decision-making and improve the product.
- Connect management information from Velogica US to support a global product point of view.
- Closely adhere to all local and global security and compliance protocols.
Technical/Essential competencies
- Excellent understanding of content formats, communication channels, and audience engagement in ReMark's key global markets.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of data privacy and security regulations and best practices.
- Expert in programming languages such as Python and working with data manipulation and analysis libraries/frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, sci-kit-learn).
- Experienced in SQL and related cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks).
- Experienced with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
- Experienced using cloud services (AWS is a plus, GCP, Azure).
Personal competencies/Nice to have
- Enthusiastic.
- A healthy knowledge of news & current affairs especially in the topic of technology, data governance, health & wellness, financial sector, insurance, and consumer behaviour.
- Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) and their data requirements.
- Familiar with data science including knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
Required education/Work experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a related discipline.
- 1+ year industry experience in the (re)insurance.
