The role

This job has a broad remit encompassing – but not limited to – the work areas below:

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and build an international data team by prioritizing workloads, mentoring, and coaching team members, offering technical guidance and leadership, and fostering a collaborative work environment in which team members can develop professionally.
  • Lead global topics of Data Platform, Data Analytics, and Data Science in SCOR Digital Solutions and collaborate closely in SCOR’s global group initiatives.
  • Provide architectural guidance on existing and future data flows and drive data harmonisation/standardization across systems and products and further enhance existing data governance practices to elevate data availability, quality & security.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions and data analytics workflows.
  • Oversee international data projects (e.g., model development, business intelligence initiatives, etc), further enhance analytics products, and further drive product innovation within the (re)insurance business (primary focus on underwriting & claims processing solutions).
  • Oversee and ensure operational stability of Power BI / Tableau analytics reports, data platform & tools.
  • Ensure compliance with data- and AI governance frameworks, while steering the creation of innovative use cases that contribute to SCOR Digital Solutions business value.

Technical/Essential competencies

  • Proven leadership experience in the data/business analytics domain, working with cross-functional experts from multiple countries.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, and customer-centric environment.
  • In-depth expertise in data management, data architecture, and data governance and tools.
  • Technical familiarity with data modeling and database technologies (ETL processes, DB staging, data platforms) as well as data tools (Power BI, Databricks, Palantir).
  • (Re)Insurance business understanding (specifically underwriting and claims processes).
  • Excellent verbal-/ and written communication- and presentation skills (English), with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and results clearly and in detail to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with compliant and secure PHI / PII data practices.

Personal competencies/Nice to have

  • Enthusiastic.
  • A healthy knowledge and interest in news & current affairs especially in the topic of technology, data governance, AI, health & wellness, the financial sector, insurance, and consumer behaviour.
  • Familiarity with BI & data management tools (Power BI, Databricks, Palantir, etc.) and their data requirements.
  • Familiar with data science and engineering techniques.

Required education/Work experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in business intelligence/data management/data architect-related discipline with proven leadership abilities.
  • 1+ year of industry experience in the (re)insurance industry.
