The role

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play an essential role in leading a team of business analysts to deliver comprehensive software solutions within the insurance domain.

This role entails effective team management, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring precise requirements gathering and validation to inform the design and specification of technical solutions. You will oversee project milestones, refine processes to maximize efficiency, and guarantee that products align with business objectives and quality standards.

Additionally, this position involves comprehensive documentation management, supporting client-specific integrations, and customizations, and addressing system integration challenges with a focus on client satisfaction. With a hands-on approach to mentorship and a strategic vision for driving business improvements, the Senior Business Analyst will serve as a key facilitator across various departments, ensuring seamless communication, collaboration, and successful technological advancements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of business analysts, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and professional development.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for communication among business stakeholders, the IT department, and software development teams.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and technical possibilities.
  • Elicit, analyze, and validate business and user requirements for process changes, policy, and information systems.
  • Offer regular performance evaluations, guidance, and feedback to the team.
  • Prioritise and delegate project tasks between team members, effectively balancing workloads and project deadlines.
  • Document requirements and system logic adjustments through complex business and user-need analyses.
  • Ensure the full team of analysts can translate business requirements into functional specifications in partnership with product managers, system architects, and developers.
  • Align proposed technical solutions with the organization's strategic goals and ensure integration with existing business and system operations.
  • Monitor project progress, address issues that arise, and consistently meet project delivery milestones.
  • Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness, and facilitate change management through effective stakeholder communication.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to validate that products meet the required business standards and quality criteria.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for business process enhancements through information systems or process adjustments.
  • Develop and maintain extensive product documentation that adheres to organizational standards.
  • Produce and regularly update user manuals, help files, system specifications, and other client materials to enhance user understanding and operation of the software.
  • Directly engage with clients to comprehend their integration needs with current systems and coordinate with the technical team to devise appropriate solutions.
  • Assess client IT infrastructure and business operations to recommend effective software integration and customization strategies.
  • Support the creation and implementation of integration test plans and assist with troubleshooting any integration-related challenges.

  • Experience with business process modeling tools and notations such as BPMN or UML to map and redesign processes for greater efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, ensuring the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage iterative development cycles.
  • Expertise in data analysis and visualization to support decision-making and present insights through tools like SQL, Excel, and BI software.
  • Competence in user story development and acceptance criteria definition to ensure clear communication of requirements to technical teams.
  • Proficiency in project management software and techniques, enabling effective tracking of project progress and resource management.
  • Technical writing skills for the creation of comprehensive documentation, user manuals, and system specifications that adhere to industry standards.
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles and experience coordinating with QA teams to ensure the alignment of products with business needs and quality benchmarks.
  • Knowledge of software integration, including experience with APIs, web services, and middleware solutions, to address client-specific customisation and integration requirements.
  • Capability to use document management tools and collaborative platforms to maintain up-to-date and organized project-related documentation.

Required education/Work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certifications from recognised professional bodies such as the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), Project Management Institute (PMI), Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster), or other relevant certifications can be highly beneficial.
