The Role

As Medior Backend Developer, you will play an essential role in the development of our solutions.

Reporting to the Lead Back-End Developer, the Medior Back-End developer is responsible for the following:

Key responsibilities

Writing testable, scalable, and efficient code:

  • Working in a team of developers, in an Agile way, managing your own tasks and work flow.
  • Fulfilling development tasks independently, communicating pro-actively about progress.
  • Prioritizing tasks and managing time to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Doing code reviews in a constructive manner.

Presenting your work:

  • Taking responsibility for finishing, presenting, and delivery of the work you’ve created.
  • Writing well-structured documentation for your code.
  • Participating in (developer) meetings in an active way.

Technical/Essential competencies

  • Solid coding capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and relations databases (preferably PostgreSQL).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools.
  • Excellent knowledge/native of Dutch (both written and spoken).
  • Excellent knowledge/native of English (both written and spoken).

Personal competencies/Nice to have

  • Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude.
  • The capability and motivation to keep on learning.
  • Additional languages - especially Dutch, French, Spanish, Mandarin or Japanese – are a bonus.

Required education/Work experience

  • BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
  • 3 years+ of working experience ideally with digital agencies or tech start-ups.
